Practicing meditation is a way to restore ourselves, giving us a sense of calmness and centeredness during our practice time and throughout the day.  Meditation is a way of harmonizing ourselves and returning to our natural state of goodness and love.

There are many benefits to meditation including soothing our nerves and reducing stress.  On a physiological level, meditation calms and stabilizes the nervous system, reduces muscle tension, normalizes blood pressure, reduces serum cholesterol, and increases serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with happiness.

You might begin a meditation practice as a way to reduce stress or lower your blood pressure, yet you are most likely to experience something wonderful that is beyond your expectations.
